Guide to Making a Montage

Ok so your a young promising gamer and has been going to forums like qsk watching all these montages and your thinking hey my GP is 10x better than this crap! You decide you want to make a montage.......... but where to start???? Well every person who ever made a montage started with the same thing.... A capture card. So now your wondering WTF is a capture card???? a capture card is something that allows a person to record what happens on there tv onto there computer.

Now that you've been informed your probably wondering...... Where the fuck do I get a capture card? There are lots of places to find a Capture card, E-bay, Amazon.com(where I got mine), Best Buy, even Wal-mart if you look in the right place. Now there are certain CCs (capture cards) that I recommend you try to get.

Recommended CCs

- ATI TV WONDER PRO (most common) - $35 to $45
-Dazzle 150 or higher (Second most common) - Price unknown

Ok once you've purchased a good CC you now need to set it up..... WTF you mean I cant just plug it in and it will work??? what a rip-off............ not really its not that hard to set it up first thing you need to know is what do you want to capture with??? Composite or S-video. Now your thinking whats that??
Composite and S-video are the two kinds of cables you use to record with
you have probably seen composite cables before its the ones you use to plug your xbox or 360 up into your tv. the Red, Yellow, and White Cables? and S-video is similar to the cable you use to plug up your Cable tv... the one you screw on?

Recording

Now you should have your CC set up now and your ready to start playing....
but wait how do you capture again????? Well there are some capture programs
im pretty sure Dazzle comes with it own program but for ATIs I dont recommend the program it comes with but I do want you to use a program called Virtual Dub

Putting it all together

Now you have recorded all of your GP and it all looks pretty sick and you have some pretty good quality......... Now what??? well now you need an editor... Ok well where do I find one. Well there all around you just have to ask.

When looking for an editor there are few things you should look for when offered an editing job...

- Ask for some recent work
Make sure there the real deal or if there any good DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR CLIPS UNTIL YOU KNOW

- Create a minitage
you could give them some of your crappy clips and ask them to make a preview and see what they got as an editor

- Look for some reputation
ask some of your friends and see if he is any good or has made anything good recently

There is also the option of editing yourself...... but this option may take longer seeing as how you have too learn and it may not be as good as having someone experienced make it

But I do recommend either Snoogans or Whats Good some of the best warez guys I know

Now lets get back to you finding your editor. Once you find him/her you want to keep track of what there doing by using IM programs I recommend AIM or Windows Live messenger. Make sure to ask for frequent updates on the tage like small parts of the tage. To make sure there still editing it.

Finalizing

Now its finally all edited and they sent you the finalized version and left you to do what ever you want with it.(most of the times this wont be the case). Now How are you gonna show this to all of your xbl buddies without having to repeatably sending them it over aim? Its time to find a Web Host. Theres a bunch of sites that offer free hosting for tages Including here at qskglobal all you have to do is contact the admin of the site(they should leave there contact info somewhere) and ask for them to host it. They probably will ask to review it before hosting and will look over it and decide whether or not its worth hosting. If they like it it will be hosted and even announced on the front page of there site!!

Now if you cant get them to host it there are some site that will allow you to upload for free and no review but theres a ton of ads and it wont be anounced..
