Sometimes your isp changes your service for no reason
They did that to me and i had to call and get it changed back EDIT: Phen where do you live?

Well I don't know if this is relevant for the USA, but in the UK they are bringing some new thing out that, if your internet provider knows you are dowloading illegaly they slow dowload speeds. But they are ment to send letters out first.
But not sure if they have it in the US.

Currently most of your cable modems are running what is called DOCSIS 1.0 - 2.2.
Check out the new DOCSIS 3 coming out. Screw your fiber.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOCSIS EDIT: ICY, those mags are sweet.
