My first real job was at Burger King. Worked there for about 9 months. Left because I broke my wrist skateboarding. Not a bad gig for a first job. Teaches you alot of work ethics. But only making $5.15 an hour sucks.
Next I worked at Wal-Mart in the Sporting Goods department. Kinda funny considering I hated sports and knew nothing about hunting or fishing. This was only seasonal. And I made like $8.50 an hour, and it hooked me up with my next job.
My next job was an "Electrical Engineer" for a small family owned company called Smith Control Systems. I was only called an "Electrical Engineer" because I put electrical control panels together like the one shown. I would put all the lights and knobs in the boxes as well as wire them. Wasn't a bad job either. I got paid about $9.50 an hour I believe. I lost this job because I crashed my car and I was no longer reliable enough to have at work every day.
Now with no job I was willing to take whatever I could get. So I got hired at Kaz for the "weekend warrior" shift. Saturday and Sunday 7am-7pm and get paid for 36 hours. This is a company that makes humidifiers for Vicks like the one shown. I worked there for exactly 3 1/2 hours. That job was horrible.
Next up, we have Cumberland Farms. This is a convenience store in the northeast I believe. I got into this job with the idea that I would work here until I could afford another car. I was gonna just get what I could out of this job and then bounce. I ended up becoming friends with the Manger and became the Assistant Manager. I worked there for about 1 1/2 years. We had a good crew going and we got this girl that we hired who was not part of our "clique". I told her "she had a nice ass" and got fired for sexual harassment. And since the rest of our "clique" disagreed with the issue, they all quit. It was a good job while it lasted.
Then from there, I was out of work and by then had a newborn to support. So a friend hooked me up with a job where he worked. He worked for Hannaford's Grocery, but in the warehouse. This paid really well, but the hours were not there. So this is when my previous Manager hooked me up with my next job.
My old friend and previous Manager hooked me up with another company in Massachusetts called O'Connell's. Another convenience store chain. Although owned by a small family. I trained in the Shell station in Great Barrington. Then I was the Assistant Manager in the Stockbridge store. Then I became the Manager of the Pittsfield store on South Street. Then I managed the Stockbridge store. Then I helped manage the Great Barrington and both Lee stores while running my store in Stockbridge. Then I took over the smaller Lee store. While I was there, the company switched hands and went in the shitter. While I ran the smaller Lee store, I also helped run every other store at the same time that I just mentioned. They finally asked me to run their biggest store. Which is the bigger of the 2 Lee stores. I finally realized I was going nowheres with this job and only making just over 30k a year and working like 80+ hours a week. That was when my Father got me hooked up with my next one.
My final and current job is a level 1 support technician for my local ISP. This so far has been a really great job. Other then the complete morons I have to deal with on a daily basis. I have decent pay that is on par or above that of the previous job, excellent benefits for me and my children, no more then 40 hours a week, overtime and shift diff, and an amazing amount of time paid off. I am happy.
I would have to say that I believe ICY and Porkchop. Mainly because of ICY's location and that he works for his brother. And for Porkchop, I know certified union welders that weld on bridges with iron workers and make about $75 an hour. And I know of one "underwater welder" that builds shit out at sea, he makes exactly $123 an hour regular pay. And it goes up depending on danger and location.
