I'm sure there will be a lot of questions about the new reputation system so I will do my best to answer all your questions about it in here.
What is reputation and how do I use it?
Reputation is similar to a Karma system. If you see someone make a good post or thread you can reward that using the reputation system. On the other side you can disapprove of someone's post and in turn give them bad reputation.
In order to do this go to the person's post and click on this: . A menu will come up and you can choose whether or not you Approve or Disapprove of the post/thread. Once you select one you leave your comments about why you felt that way and you're done. You've either given that person 1 reputation point or taken away a reputation point.
Ok, but what does reputation do for me?
Good question. Everyone starts out with a default reputation level of 15. Now there are several things on the forums that are tied to your reputation. I'll cover the negative ones first.
- If you get to -15 reputation you will be moved to a Almost Banned usergroup. What the hell does that mean? It means you will only be able to reply to other people's threads. You cannot create new threads, you cannot participate on betting events or polls and you lose all special forum access. The point is that you have to work your way out of the Almost Banned group. Once your reputation gets above -15 again you'll be put back to a normal user.
- If you continue to disobey forum rules or just act the fool and get your reputation to -50 you will be permanently banned from the forums. Its that simple.
So what is stopping people from abusing this system?[/b]
- There is a minumum reputation level a member must have before their reputation clicks have an effect on someone. So if you have below 10 reputation, your reputation clicks have no effect. Good or bad. This helps the system so that only people that have an established reputation can leave reputation for others.
- Daily Reputation Clicks Limit. This sets a limit on how many times a day you can leave reputation for someone. Right now the limit is at 5. These points DO NOT carry over to the next day. So you have 5 each day, if you don't use it, then it resets once the new day hits. So no trying to use your points all at once in a day.
- Reputation User Spread. This sets how many different users you must give reputation to before you can hit the same person again. This number won't be shared but you need to leave reputation on a good amount of people before you can leave reputation on the same person. This helps keep the system tame in that you can't gang up on someone. You can't constantly leave reputation on a member.
- Extensive Admin Logs. I have so many logs for this system that if someone tries to gang up on someone for no reason and leave constant bad reputation I will know about it. And I will take action on it. So if you plan to abuse the system and try to hurt someone's reputation for no rhyme or reason you will be banned.
What do I do if I think someone is trying to sabotage my reputation?
Contact someone on the moderator team on the Forum Guidelines sticky and we will look into it.
