Do you hide your gaming from friends and family?

I saw this on H3F and I couldn't believe the replies. People hide their gaming in fear they will be labeled as a "nerd" or a "dork". I thought it was cool to be a geek these days?

I am 28 years old, and about to be 29 in like 2 weeks. And I do not hide my gaming. And because of that, I get some very strange looks and replies when someone asks me what my replies are.

Family - Cars - Xbox in that order.

Apparently at my age, I am supposed to be at a bar wasting money on over expensive drinks while I leave my family at home. I see nothing wrong with staying up and playing while the Family is asleep on my nights off.

Do you guys hide your gaming? Or even just not mention it when it could be brought up, in fear of being ridiculed?

I hide my gaming life from my friends. Because people around school that wear gaming t-shirts, my friends call nerds so I just don't tell them that I play. My family know thats I play tho.

But I don't hide my gaming, if I wasn't gaming I would be either watching tv or wasting money. Everyone needs time to relax and chill out with a hobby, if I had more money I would be doing other things, but this is the best cheap hobby there is lol No reason to hide that

I really don't have a problem playing when family is around except when I were the headset. They think I am wierd talking to people I don't know and stuff. As for friends, most of the people in school are highly addicted to Call of Duty 4 and they all are tenth prestiege so I don't mind it either. I don't talk about unless they ask me too.

Not really at all. My best friend also plays xbox live and is aware of QsK and all that...he's just not into the whole MLG/montage/srz biz scene. But a few of my other friends are into gaming but we aren't "gamers" specifically. Also tons of kids at my school play xbl including the jocks so it's not that big of a deal. And even my friends who don't game I showed some halo vids and stuff, they thought it was cool. I guess I kinda grew outta that stage of fearing being deemed 'nerdy' for liking gaming.

As for parents, my mom doesn't care that I game so long as I don't do it too much and I show my dad some montages he thinks the whole editing/capturing aspect of it is really cool. I also told him about MLG and he couldn't believe it but he thinks it's overall pretty neat.

lulz, when i used to edit my tages and a couple other my freinds were always interested in it. A few of my buddies always want to see my latest work and im like " hell naw I quit that shit."
