'We did not make this decision lightly, but after careful consideration and review we realize that this decision will allow us unprecedented flexibility for future features.'
In other words, minus the sugar-coated bullshit, it no longer paid for itself.

Good. Now I won't have to put up with all the "Let's go play Halo 2" bullshit everyone tries to pull whenever a new game comes out.

Wow, that's pretty depressing. Halo 2, in my mind, will always have been the single greatest Xbox Live experience of my life. No other game even comes close. So people have nostalgia once in a while, I don't think that warrants this as a good thing.
RIP

Halo 2 made XBL popular.
Besides, now it will turn into, "Lets go play Halo 2...oh wait we cant because M$ wont let us." Followed by more QQ. So I guess if you'd prefer that...
Also: No Chaos Theory or Battlefront 2? Fail.

So true. Without the halo xbl Microsoft wouldn't be close to what they have today.

Its gonna be a sad thing when Halo 2 goes away... The memories alone its like just shutting down apart of our lives. In a way.

I understand why it's sad, but I don't think it's that big of a deal.
It's not like we all play much anyways, what, like once every 8 months?
The memories are still there, they will be even when it's offline.

Arsonism and me played last night!
I'd be fine if they get rid of matchmaking, but really wish you could still do customs.
