You probably shouldn't have said what you said.
You need to gain respect on this forum to have authority. Well at least enough to stop people arguing in a thread like this. You took the actions that a Mod should take. When you do that it kind of makes every one think " who is this kid blah blah blah". Thats more than likely why they said what they said. So leave sorting out arguments/threads etc. to mods

The problem here isn't that you were trying to defuse the situation. In fact, you did a great job of it; textbook to the letter. So Kudos for that. The problem is the age of the thread; the argument you (quite successfully) defused, has been long passed and forgotten.
